The white woman who went viral for calling the police on a Black birdwatcher is suing her former employer after she lost her job over the incident. According to this USA Today article by Ryan W. Miller, Amy Cooper is alleging that her former employee fired her based on her race and gender in a lawsuit.
Amy Cooper went viral in a video in which she called 911 on Christian Cooper (of no relation), falsely alleging that he threatened to harm her. In reality, Mr. Cooper asked Ms. Cooper to leash her dog, which is required in the area of Central Park in which they were walking. Ms. Cooper’s former employer, Franklin Templeton, is quoted in the article, “‘We believe the circumstances of the situation speak for themselves and that the company responded appropriately. We will defend against these baseless claims.’”
