A transgender Extended Stay employee in Pennsylvania was terminated over her gender presentation in direct violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. According to this HR Drive article by Katie Clarey, the employee was interviewed by the manager, who asked if she was a Christian. Still, no mention of gender identity was brought up.
Once the employee began work, she started dressing in accordance with her identity, which resulted in threats of termination. According to the article, the employee reached out to Extended Stay through their employee hotline, but ultimately, she was fired by her manager.
