Auburn Athletic Director Awarded for Diversity

Auburn

Diversity and inclusion have become topics that are finally receiving the attention they deserve. The NCAA began a program, NCAA’s Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, which recognizes those creating change within their programs. This committee, founded in 2015, recently recognized Auburn Athletic Director Allen Green, for his efforts, according to Giana Han’s AL.com article.

Greene served as the only Black director in the Southeastern Conference until this past spring. According to Han, he began having conversations surrounding race over the summer, which were “emotionally taxing but rewarding.” His efforts and communication with other directors sparked the creation of the Black Athletic Directors Alliance.
